Our Special Programs

The GBMS leadership team conducts ongoing needs assessments to initiate and improve services to meet the ever-changing needs of our service communities. Our special programs are designed to build healthy communities as we have assessed a need for these services in southern Maryland.

Babies Born Healthy

Babies Born Healthy is a new service provided by Greater Baden Medical Services, Inc. (GBMS) added in October 2008. The goal of the project is to improve the health of women of childbearing age in Prince George’s by facilitating access to primary care services. Preconception care, which is part of the program, allows women to obtain treatment for any illness or condition that may impact the outcome of subsequent pregnancy. In addition, the BBH program offers resources on parenting information, employment, education and birth control. Van Transportation

Realizing that transportation can be a barrier to obtaining healthcare services, we provide complimentary transportation services to persons in rural Prince George’s and Charles Counties. Our van service is guaranteed to get patients to their appointments on time and return patients to their residence afterwards. Homeless Education and Outreach

Since the program’s inception in 2002, we have increased accessibility to healthcare for over 120 persons in homeless shelters in Prince George’s County. Through our weekly outreach sessions, we have presented health education to nearly 300 homeless residents. From disseminating information on disease prevention, to conducting in-services on developing effective resumes, our outreach staff works avidly to meet the holistic needs of the homeless population. HIV Care

As a Ryan White Title grant recipient since 1991, our system has provided healthcare services to 237 persons with HIV. Through training and experience, our staff and providers are adept in meeting the unique clinical needs of persons with HIV. Services rendered include and are not limited to: testing, primary care, case management, dental care, emergency drug assistance, mental health counseling and specialty referrals. Diabetes Care

As diabetes continues to affect the lives of thousands of Marylanders, GBMS is prepared to provide the intervention needed to either prevent diabetes or assist persons in effectively managing their conditions. To supplement care provided by our providers, GBMS conducts group sessions for persons with diabetes. The goal for the sessions is to establish a support network for patients through information exchange and goal-setting. PACT

Pact is a group of health care professionals who work with your health care provider and research physicians at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) to help educate you and community groups about clinical trials and advances in treatments for your infectious disease. NIAID is a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
